A Journey to Seclusion

Paradise Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Pondicherry, located at the confluence of the Bay of Bengal and the Chunnambar River. Unlike most beaches that you can drive straight to, Paradise Beach requires a short boat ride from Chunnambar Boat House. It is a half-hour ferry ride through the backwaters. Ticket for ferry Rs. 350/ per head. This beach is entirely sandy. Various activities are available for an additional charge. Time - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m

There are two ways to reach here, one by road and the other via ferry. Reach the Chunnambar boat house early in the morning or evening. The ferry option is better, as it gives you access to the adjacent Eden Beach as well. They have huge parking spaces, so you don't have to worry about any parking issues. They have two types of boat rides: Motor and speedboat. The speedboat charges are expensive compared to the motorboat.

The way via road is a bit longer, and the section of the beach open to this tourist is restricted to a specific area near the Chunnambar Boat House, where you can still enjoy the beauty of the beach and the sea.

It's dangerous to cross the sea-river connection between Paradise and Eden beach (though it looks easy). The water undercurrent can pull you away.

Paradise Beach is divided into two sections (one for via road visitors and one for via jetty visitors). Jetty one is better.

As you glide over the backwaters, the serene views of lush mangroves and calm waters create a peaceful atmosphere, setting the tone for the escape ahead. Upon arrival, the isolation of the beach makes it feel like an untouched oasis, perfect for those craving solitude and natural beauty. Charming place to visit if you are interested in history and the arts, and love the beaches and French food

Best Time to Visit

The months between October and March are ideal, offering pleasant weather without the sweltering summer heat. Since it’s a secluded beach, it’s best to arrive early to experience it without the crowds that might trickle in later in the day.

Preserving Paradise

Paradise Beach is beautiful because of its natural charm, and preserving it is crucial. Visitors are encouraged to carry their waste back with them and avoid disturbing the marine ecosystem.

Whether you're seeking solitude, adventure, or creative inspiration, Paradise Beach stands as a testament to Pondicherry’s quieter, more poetic side. It's more than just a destination; it's a state of mind.
