The central and state governments seem to be on a hiring spree ahead of the 2019 general election in which unemployment could be a key issue.

Conservative estimates show that over 330,000 people could be recruited for various posts and categories across the country by the end of 2019.



This includes the world's largest recruitment drive by the Indian Railways - second time in last two years. TCS has been the tech backbone for Indian Railways to help it conduct the world's largest recruitment drive.

The Indian Railways held the world's largest recruitment drive - 23. 7 million applicants applied for 0.127 million posts.

The number of students who had appeared for Class X examination in 2018 is 15 times less than  that competing for the said 0.127 million posts in Indian railways. The posts range from Assistant Loco pilots, technicians to gangmen and trackmen.
